      Fresh Produce is Artwell’s annual show where new (made within the past year) works by Artwell members are exhibited. In past exhibitions, all mediums, and a wide range of subjects, and styles have been well represented. Put simply, this is a chance for Artwell members to “strut their stuff”.

      Our first theme show of the year, More Amour! addresses the topics of romance, love, and secret longings. All art mediums are welcome. This show is open to both members and non-members.

      This is not Artwell’s first photography show, but will be the first ever juried photo show juried by someone from outside of Northwestern Connecticut, using online submissions. We are very fortunate to have photographer and educator Justin Kimball serve as juror for this show. Justin earned a B.F.A. in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design and an M.F.A. in Photography from Yale University. Justin is currently an Associate Professor of Art at Amherst College and his book Pieces of String has been published by Radius Books.

      Since Artwell’s inception in 1995, students and teachers have been invited to show work in our gallery. Artucation has become an Artwell tradition, showcasing work by art students and their teachers in the region. Students for elementary school to college have been well represented in the past, and this year’s show promises to be the best ever!

      One of our most popular shows, Landscapes & Still Lifes is exactly that- a show of these two genres that encompass every imaginable medium and style. This show is open to both members and non-members.

      JURIED EXHIBITION

      Open to members and non-members, this exhibition has been juried by major players in the tri-state art scene over the years. This year is will be no exception with the return of a juror who served as our judge for this show over a decade ago.

      Show For A Show is perhaps one of the most unique projects Artwell has done. Invented by Stewart Wilson, Show For A Show brings artists, galleries, and museums together to the benefit of all. In this exhibition, artists submit one work, and representatives from galleries and museums and independent curators come to Artwell and select at least one artist for inclusion in one of their upcoming shows or book projects.
